Shattered glass and ruined apparatus litter the floor of this large,

square chamber. Wooden tables of all size and description, some of

them broken or charred, sit in every part of the room. An odd stench

of long-decayed chemicals fills the chamber, and mingles with the

smell of death here. Here and there bones lay on the floor. Up against

the north wall, a ten-foot square contraption looms, its dull metal

surface studded with switches, levers, and buttons.
