The old woman reaches out and studies your face and clothing.

"Greetings, stranger.  I have not heard your voice around these
parts before.  I see by your dress you are a great fighter.  We are in
the need of the services of fighters these days.  A terrible battle was
fought here lately, and many of our warriors were lost."

She pauses here, and a sad expression comes over her face.

"As you may have noticed, there are many things in our city that we
have acquired as the result of raiding across the great waters.  Many
useful tools and weapons, as well as livestock and slaves have come to
our city over the years.

About two years ago we acquired a slave with some minor talents in
healing and curative skills.  He has lived peacefully in our city for
some time, treating our wounded and providing restorative brews to
myself and the other elders of this city.  Sadly, that has all changed
since the stranger arrived."
