These developments caused much concern and whispering among the people of Silvermere and the men of the Kings army particularly when Godfrey Lionheart and a picked band of Paladins moved to the same warehouse under the Kings Orders. Within days the Ranger Skarlock led the lead elements of a relief column up the Western Road and the mood in Silvermere brightened perceptibly. In a few more days the Kings Army had grown to over four thousand souls. With all of this activity it comes as no surprise that the absence of Morukai, Orfeo and Godfrey went unnoticed for some time. Above the eastern Waterfall the forces of the Red Mage Goru-Nezar had smashed the surface fortifications of the Temple of the Phoenix and with brute force were digging into the many levels of the Catacombs beneath, driving the Templar Dorshar Lightblade and the Order of the Phoenix deeper and deeper into their final refuge. The losses taken by the Templars were terrible but each of them was bought dearly and the army of Goru-Nezar made it's progress at great cost. At the end, Dorshar and his fellow Templars stood defending the last passages outside the Grotto of the Phoenix when Morukai and Orfeo, using exotic mining tools of Gnomish invention, fell upon the forces of the Red Mage from behind, driving them to a frenzy and smashing them utterly. The last of them, Goru-Nezars own Necromancer died within reach of the Phoenix Egg, struck down By Dorshar Himself.
