The main force of Goru-Nezar was observed by Orfeo and Morukai as they were returning to Silvermere on the river and their advantage of surprise was lost. Practitioners of the Magic arts loyal to the King whipped the river to a froth beating back the massed attack to the Silvery Pool where the entire might of the King was launched against them. The next few days were terrible in the Ironwood, two great forces matched each other in the largest contest of arms ever seen in the Realm. Backward and forward the two great armies surged, ravaging the once beautiful Old Road but step by step the forces of the King prevailed driving the Red Mage back. At the end Goru-Nezar fell back into his city behind his well maintained walls and fortifications. The Kings army stood upon the ruins of the Ogre Camp in front of the city gates. The Red Mage would ask for no quarter and it is unlikely that the King would grant any so the siege was mounted and went on for weeks. Great engines battered at the walls and the forces of magic were employed by both sides, the carnage was terrible. Then, when Goru-Nezar was concentrating his energies upon the King, with a single great crash it was over. With the turning of a card in a monastery far away Annora called down the power of the Gods, Goru-Nezar and his army destroyed, his city crushed.
