In a concealed Dark Temple they found the force behind all the mischief that had bedeviled Silvermere, Lord Cambron, The Champion of Blood. Rallying all their resources the party fell upon Cambron and in a fierce battle defeated him only to discover that he was but a husk occupied by the Hellion, perhaps the Blood God himself. Fighting now in quiet desperation the party used all of their skills and talents but many of their followers perished in the horrid blasts of the combat. In the end it was the good Doggie Doober that struck 
the mortal blow, the Hellion vanished in a blast of energy that was the source of the tremors felt in Silvermere. When the Household Guard emerged with the children there was much rejoicing in Silvermere and when Skarlock, Morukai, Orfeo and Doggie returned with their surviving troops they were feted and feasted around the town. In thanks, the King proclaimed Silvermere a free town, exempt from royal taxes and free to elect their own leadership to replace the aging Humpfrey. He asked only for the loyalty of the city in return for his 
own loyalty. "After all" he said, "Silvermere needs no King to defend it when it has citizens such as these." The King returned to his Capitol across the Sea taking with him Dorshar, Doggie and the Governor Humpfrey but
many of his troops retired in Silvermere, doing much to improve the quality of the Militia and it's training. Markus returned to the Black Mountains with a captains knot on his shoulder. After a time the City became once again a backwater where nothing of much importance ever happened and eventually the Western Road fell into disrepair and was blocked by rockfall and avalanche cutting the City off from the rest of the Kingdom. The Barricade on the Forest Road would be removed opening the way once again to the East. But Silvermere would always be known as a place where great things HAD happened and the legends live on.......
