Einday Daerlorn's Rising - Journal of Maxmillion... "The experiments are proving different then anticipated, the mutation has grown tenfold and the specimen will soon prove uncontrollable if any more experiments continue, Head Magus Zanthus seems driven on testing the specimens full length to the negative planes, and each test is becoming more of a mess then most can withstand. I myself am considering vanishing from this place, but his unnatural minions seem more and more to watch us then to protect the experiments. Some whisper at meal time that he has become possessed or crazed by his search, for what he refuses to tell us. I remember a much better day when Zarman was much more hospitable and our works in magic were much more benevolent then present day. I am much assured that this will be my last experiment unless there is a sudden upswing." Another passage reads... "I write this in haste because I must soon take flight very quickly, I must tell the folk of Daerlorn the danger which is putting them in. I have discovered from his babblings that he is searching for some key to immortality and wishes to bring about it by hellish means. Whether through some underworldly pact or pure madness he is bringing about a prophecy which could consume an entire world if enacted. I write too much for even now I hear the screams of my fellow magi, the beasts of under his control have begun their assault, I flee!" The rest of the book has been badly charred and is impossible to read.
